Bush on Monday said schools should teach evolution and "intelligent design." The latter, of course, teaches that sometimes biology is so complicated that we should just throw up our hands and say, "God did it."
Sayeth the president:
"I think that part of education is to expose people to different schools of thought. You're asking me whether or not people ought to be exposed to different ideas. The answer is 'yes.'"
Spoken like a true liberal trying to argue that gay parenting should be taught in schools alongside straight parenting. "We just want to expose people to different schools of thought."
Such crap.
"Intelligent design" is definitely not intelligent; it's a surrender to ignorance.
But it does have a design. If allowed inside public-school science classrooms, it will diminish thought and encourage religious screeds.
Teach "intelligent design" in theology class. Leave science to the professionals, not the supernaturalists.
