SPRINGFIELD ANNOUNCES 'FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS'

Mark the calendar, Sharpie the kids, whatever you do to 'member an important appointment. The Center City “Festival of Lights” dilly starts Friday, Nov. 18.

A complete list of events for the next six weeks can be found by clicking here. A few highlights:

•A 40-foot Norwegian Pine, donated by Norma Meyer for Park Central Square.

•Miss Merrie Christmas Pageant, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at Central High School Auditorium. Maybe there we'll learn why it's spelled "Merrie."

•Hizzoner lights a big-ass Christmas Tree at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at Jordan Valley Park East Plaza. Then you get a free ice show, free ice skating, maybe even an impromptu exhibition by Tom Carlson, 'cause we hear he's a skating fiend.
