CRITIC FOR LOCAL BLOGGERS

Evidence that southwest Missouri's blogging community is evolving (or devolving): 417 Pundit, a new local blog that promises "commentary without pity ... We expose stupidity."

The pundit's first target is Larry Litle, keeper of Simple Thoughts of a Complex Mind. Litle's sins include typos and unkempt writing. It's all pretty petty; at one point the alleged cognoscenti tees off on Litle for using "204" instead of "2004" in a sentence about the last presidential election. The pundit types:
We feel George W. Bush has been in office for an eternity, but clearly he could not have been president since 204. The U.S. didn't become the U.S. until the late 1700s. But perhaps that's too complex for Litle's simple mind.
We read Litle's blog and we rarely agree with anything he writes. Big deal. He's taking the trouble to write when he believes.

Some bloggers worry the pundit will screw up a good thing with this sort of "nonsensical hissy-fitting" (a fine phrase coined by another local writer). Not a chance.

Ah yes, a fine phrase from ol' Fat Jack. I do like that Jack has taken the high road and gone so far as to invite the Pundit to critique his own blog.

While I agree we all can use feedback from time to time, positive and constructive criticism is best ... except when it comes to politicians and celebrities and then, well, the gloves are off.

You crack my ass up, Ron.

Ron,
I thought I was winning you over. To know that you rarely agree with me brings me much more down than 417pundit ever could. I am glad that you are willing to read my blog anyway. I am looking forward to finally meeting you face to face next Tuesday night over beers. I think we can agree to me buying you one.

At least he links me, so he can't be all bad. I am disappointed that he would pick on Larry, who is a very nice guy -- for a conservative, that is -- and leave me until later. If he wants typos I got 'em in abbbundence,

John, it's abbundance, dummy!

This 417 Pundit is a common troll. But he could be entertaining :-)

Sadly, I'll be in MN next week and will miss the bloggers' meeting.

Suggestion: We should begin meeting twice per month. How about first and third Tuesdays? I'll begin posting that schedule when I return.

Larry:

To quote Fat Jack, "you crack my ass up." The best part of life is reading something that challenges an existing mindset.

No Andy at next week's meeting? Who will record our priceless advice?

I've got an old-school, video-tape-based camera...

is that compatible with any cone's of reasonable privacy (TM)?

I will wear my cloak of invisibility.

What you bloggers don't realize is that I've been secretly attending the past several meetings hidden behind my Cone of Reasonable Privacy(TM, Pat. Pend.) and recording everything. I'll soon share it all with 417 Pundit so s/he may exploit all grammatical errors.

And Duane, my legal team will be in touch for your failure to properly use my trademarked device name. It should be capitalized, silly.

417pundit looks to be a real wanker. Glad I don't fall into his sphere of influence.

It's unlikely that I'll ever be down visiting the old folks at home on a Tues., but Granny has already said I should stop in and check out the party if it happens. Love to!

Lokk at Andy's absence in a positive way. Now I won't have to spend all day Tuesday looking for the most disgusting story on the net to tell him during meatloaf and creamed corn.

CHATTERismist-guy is not off the hook though.

I'll stand in for Andy. I am always up for a good, nasty story swap. But beware, I shall come armed with my own bloody yarn. Hmm. From experience or from internet. Time shall tell. But I promise not to disappoint.

What did 417Pundit do, Ron, just copy-paste all your links? High praise... but how come he didn't post HIS Japanese name?
