GIBSON: DISEASED, DISGRACED, DESPICABLE

Hey, we're not saying it. He is:
"After drinking alcohol on Thursday night, I did a number of things that were very wrong and for which I am ashamed. I drove a car when I should not have, and was stopped by the L.A. County sheriffs. The arresting officer was just doing his job and I feel fortunate that I was apprehended before I caused injury to any other person.

"I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable. I am deeply ashamed of everything I said and I apologize to anyone who I have offended.

"Also, I take this opportunity to apologize to the deputies involved for my belligerent behavior. They have always been there for me in my community and indeed probably saved me from myself. I disgraced myself and my family with my behavior and for that I am truly sorry.

"I have battled the disease of alcoholism for all of my adult life and profoundly regret my horrific relapse. I apologize for any behavior unbecoming of me in my inebriated state and have already taken necessary steps to ensure my return to health."
And he really didn't mean what he said about the Jews. Uh-huh.

I always thought Mad Max was a good name for him. Not only is he a raging drunk, he's got to be bi-polar.

In vino, veritas ...

Why is it when Mel Gibson attacks the Jews, everyone rises in anger and demands apologies. Yet, when Hezbollah attacks the Jews, there is no such out cry. Israel is told they are over reacting, to cease-fire, to negotiate with Hezbollah for peace.

Ask Nick Berg if negotiating with terrorists works. Ask Daniel Pearl if negotiating works. Israel's way to smart to play that game.

What do you think Hezbollah says about Jews?

Of course, no one is suggesting that we bomb Mel Gibson . . .

and not much vino to get to the veritas. It took a .12 to get him to show his true colors. Jeez, they must be pretty close to the surface or he must be one fast drunk. I think I could blow a .12 and manage to keep my darkest self a secret.

Note to Newt:

Not "everyone," as you say, rises in anger and demands apologies when Mel Gibson disparages Jews. Many of us, unlike you, know better than to get too excited about the drunken rantings of a movie actor. (Unless, of course, we're talking about the late Ronald Reagan, but that's a pesky technicality because, after all, he did get elected twice to the Oval Office, unlike Mel Gibson.)

I believe it was you, on the other hand, who seemed quite indignant recently when you invoked the memory of Alec Baldwin sarcastically advocating the death of Ken Starr on a late night comedy talk show, something that happened YEARS ago. (Good thing you're not still bitter about that, Newtie.)

I think you'd find that if Israel's response to Hezbollah had been measured, and delivered in-kind (meaning that the Israeli forces were to attack/capture only Hezbollah forces in retaliation), and NOT directed at innocent Lebanese civilians (particularly children) not affiliated with Hezbollah, there would be far less of a global outcry about what's currently going on.

Then tell Hezbollah to move their weapons out of neighborhoods. If the UN would've enforced their own resolutions, Hezbollah wouldn't even be in southern Lebanon, but they did not. I believe if you ran a count on the number of missles fired in this 21 day war, Hezbollah would be the winner. Why does no one urge Hezbollah to use restraint?

The only "measured" response there can be with these Islamic a-holes is death. Unlike you, I see these Islamic Jihadists as 21st Century Nazis. They have no regard for human life and want to wipe Israel and the United States off the map. They want Holocaust2. So, with that in mind you don't talk to them. You don't deal with them. You simply kill them. Eventus Stultorum Magister.

This is World War III and unlike the other world wars, this one has just begun and may not be over for many years to come.

And what in the wide, wide world of sports does Alec Baldwin have to do with this? Might as well have included Harold Insley, Buster Keaton, Bill Cullen, Fatty Arbuckle or Art Linkletter.

In a sense, Newtiehead, Alec Baldwin has nothing to do with Hezbollah and Israel. I merely brought it up because you launched your tirade on this post with indignancy over "everyone" crying foul about Mel Gibson's comments about Jews. I was attempting to point out the silliness in anyone really caring what a drunken actor (Gibson) has to say about anything. And then I pointed out that you, yourself, Newtiehead, recently trotted out the example of Alec Baldwin (another actor, this time sarcastic, not drunken) calling for the death of Ken Starr on Late Night With Conan O'Brien. You seemed a bit upset about Baldwin's comments, and yet you seem a bit perplexed that anyone would care about Gibson's comments.

Both are ACTORS, not political leaders. They make MOVIES, not WARS.

Get it yet?

Yes, wise one. I understand they're actors.

It would be a good idea if you wouldn't talk down to people. I am not the Cocker that just laid cable on the carpet.

But maybe that's just the nature of a liberal.
