CHENEY REMAINS TRUE TO FIRST NAME

To use the always popular phrase, mistakes were made in Iraq. No one disputes this obvious fact. Except for Vice President Dick Cheney, who on Sunday insisted that Iraq had a pre-way link to al-Qaeda -- and that hindsight means nothing to him. The Financial Times reports:
He acknowledged that the US intelligence on Iraq had been poor but he appeared to put the blame on the Central Intelligence Agency, saying George Tenet, the former director of the spy agency, had told President George W. Bush that the case that Mr Hussein had weapons of mass destruction was a "slam dunk".

But he said the lack of weapons of mass destruction would not have changed the decision to invade Iraq.

"If we had to do [it] over again, we would do exactly the same thing," Mr Cheney said.
No matter the cost.

It's inconvenient for the Iraqi's that their sand was over our oil. At least in Shooter's mind.

Note the passive voice, "mistakes were made." Not by us, the administration, but somehow, by someone mistakes were made. No reason to do a lot of navel-gazing and self-reflection.

Mistakes WERE made... and they go back farther than the previous administration. Several administrations' worth of "navel gazing" need to occur.

This didn't start on Inauguration Day, 2000. Add several decades to the contemplation list.

I can't watch Cheney or Bush for more than 5 seconds before becoming ill.

As an aside, could you please give us a heads up every week for your Street Talk show, who is the guest, etc. I keep missing it.

I watched the train wreck live on sunday, and I really don't think that Cheney did what he wanted to, which was to regain the high ground with conservitives. While there are the rock solid 30% red staters, anyone who is on the fence or sceptical would not have been won over by that performance. They should have sent Condi. Or better yet, someone who is not so close
to W.
Perhaps some congressional figure. Oh right, people hate them too.

Strannix, is that you or Tommy Lee Jones?

Anonymous 7:51, but notice the onus is never on the current administration. Don't try to be cute; when Cheney says "mistakes were made" the onus is always on ANYONE other than a member of this administration.
