VHS, 30

The format was supposed to live until at least January. but retailers decided to open shelf space for other things. Variety reports:
After its youthful Betamax battles, the longer-playing VHS tapes eventually became the format of choice for millions of consumers. VHS enjoyed a lucrative career, transforming the way people watched movies and changing the economics of the film biz. VHS hit its peak with "The Lion King," which sold more than 30 million vidcassettes Stateside.

The format flourished until DVDs launched in 1997. After a fruitful career, VHS tapes started to retire from center stage in 2003 when DVDs became more popular for the first time.

Since their retirement, VHS tapes have made occasional appearances in children's entertainment and as a format for collectors seeking titles not released on DVD. VHS continued to make as much as $300 million a year until this year, when studios stopped manufacturing the tapes.
Buy a few for the holidays, hand 'em out as stocking stuffers.

As long as I have a VHS player and my Clinton impeachment tapes the truth lives on forever. Afterall, isn't Clinton the Lyin' King?

"Afterall, isn't Clinton the Lyin' King?"

Only until he was usurped by lil' Butch.

Just wait until the NEXT Clinton...

For those without TIVO, the VHS remains the best way to record and view TV shows otherwise missed. Glad I have my DVD/VCR combo.

Also...WTF? What does Bill Clinton have to do with this discussion? I guess some people just can't get past the past. Much more serious and negative events have occured in the White House since the Pres got a BJ there. Bill was quite the jerk for taking part as he did, but if you don't have questions about or objections to what the current Pres has been up to, then all I can say is: Let it go. Get counseling.
If Anon 1035 is really looking for the truth, he or she should set up the VHS to record the nightly news. It's doesn't even matter which network, even FOX is telling more of the truths these days.

I didn't write the Lyin' King comment and I tend to vote democrat, but in defense of anon 1035 I thought it was funny.

It's just more fun to bash the once and future Clinton... no time like the present. His wife will make a bid for the presidency, after all, and if she wins it will be one of those moments when everything goes horribly wrong.

As for VHS... I'm sticking with it until I can buy a DVR/VCR combo, so I can transfer some of the stuff I've hoarded over the years. Those Ren & Stimpy reruns are starting to get a bit ragged, though...

A Clinton basher watches Ren & Stimpy. Go figure...
