HAPPY 2008

So glad to make it to this side of the fence, where we can look forward to Dec. 31, 2008, when Dick Clark makes another uncomfortable appearance on New Year's Eve. Man, that's some creepy-good TV.

Resolved for 2008:
*More posts.

*More odd news.

*More compassion.

*More understanding.

*Fewer complaints.
And fewer cigarettes. Happy New Year.

We look forward to more posts. We quit smoking years ago at the drop of a hat. No prob. We sooooo, wish we could do that with overeating. That's our huckleberry and it is a b*tch. I'm sending you good blogger vibes to help you quit. Being in the media business does not help one bit.

Cheers to you and yours.

I'm glad that's one habit I never picked up in broadcasting. Good luck cutting it down, Ron.

I smoked for years, Marlboro reds, still like em, used to smoke menthol when I had a cold,,,,would still be smoking today except I saw my 80 year old mother get CPD from smoking and now she is tethered to an 02 tank. Limits her freedom, I don't want to end up like that. I don't mind secondhand smoke though.

He didn't say he's going to "quit" just have "fewer." He's resolved to "quit" for some 20 of the last New Years - at least. I think it's good to know one's own limitations.

:)

Happy New Year, Red!

hi Ron: I know it is hard to quit but you will feel better. I loved to smoke cigarettes...the perfect drug-nicotine-peps you up when needed and relaxes when needed. Duke published a study in 2004 and looking at the longterm health costs over years of smoking, they determined the cost of cigarettes to be $40-41 per pack. Elisa C.

Totally on the mark about Dick Clark. You gotta admire him for trying, and ABC for giving him the screen at the crucial moments, but I just had to switch the channel.

I'll give up drinking when you give up smoking.

I know what you mean about Dick Clark. I totally had to quit watching. It had me nearly in tears.

Good luck and vibes to you for cutting back on smoking this year. Cheers to you if you decide to go all the way and quit for good. I quit in April of 2005 after smoking 1½ packs a day and although it's been hard, it's been the best thing I've ever accomplished.
I can't wait to see what interesting things come through your blog this year. You're at the top of my list!

I quit every time I smashed one out in the ashtray, the problem was I started almost a half hour later. When I got a debit card for my gas purchases I found I NO longer had to walk into the station to pay for my gas.... ergo out of site out of mind along with chewing and spitting sunflower seeds

Ditto on the Dick Clark comments from all. I feel bad for the guy, but shoot, as creepy as it is watching him on New Years Eve every year, you gotta hand it to the guy for getting up there and doing what he loves to do best.

You could always quit working in news. You'd have better odds of quitting that way. :)

More odd stories:
"We're celebrating the rededication of the people's house. To have somebody die puts a damper on (the) events," said Rep. Carl Wimmer, a Republican. (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,320448,00.html) Bummer, dude!

Fewer cigarettes:
Hypnosis actually worked for me… the best of luck! (Now if I could just lose 20 pounds. Not a worry for you, rond, just get a haircut.)
