FEAR AND CLOTHING

Michelle Malkin, the blogger, has gotten her way. Dunkin' Donuts is now safe from terrorism, Rachael Ray is a left-wing apologist, and anyone wearing a black-and-white silk scarf is Against Us.

Dunkin' Donuts ran an ad featuring Ray wearing a scarf with a paisley design, "selected by her stylist for the advertising shoot," according to DD (mmm, double-Ds).

Malkin started ranting and said the scarf looked like a keffiyeh: "The keffiyeh, for the clueless, is the traditional scarf of Arab men that has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad ... the apparel has been mainstreamed by both ignorant and not-so-ignorant fashion designers, celebrities, and left-wing icons."

According to the Boston Globe:
[Dunkin' Donuts] at first pooh-poohed the complaints, claiming the black-and-white wrap was not a keffiyeh. But the right-wing drumbeat on the blogosphere continued and by yesterday, Dunkin’ Donuts decided it’d be easier just to yank the ad.

Said the suits in a statement: "In a recent online ad, Rachael Ray is wearing a black-and-white silk scarf with a paisley design. ... Absolutely no symbolism was intended. However, given the possibility of misperception, we are no longer using the commercial."
Dunkin' Donuts caves, Malkin crows, idiocy reigns. Soon the clock will strike 13.

In my opinion, Idiots are on the far right out number their counterparts on the far left. Maybe not by much, but the far right kooks have greater access to "The Media" than they care to admit. Like it or not, "The Media" is as much Rush, Sean, Malkin, Fox News, Journal Broadcasting, Washington Times, et al, as it is NPR, the Washington Post and the NY Times. When "The Media" uses its print or microphones to pull crap like this, WE THE PEOPLE all lose. How un-American of Malkin and her followers. How stupid of D- Donuts. I plan to contact the corporate donut holes to register a complaint. BTW, Scott McLellan has a new book out that may explain how we got here.

Arabs. Go figure. They want clean feet when they pray, but wipe their butts with their bare left hand.

Rachel Ray should've done the commercial for Charmin.

I have zero idea what that last comment means.

But I think it's disgusting.

It means what it says. And you're spot on; it is disgusting, but, that's an Arab for you.

Obviously...the terrorists have won.

The next dumb ass donut spokesperson had better watch what he or she wears in the next add because Michele Malkin will be. Something red would be promoting Communism.
Blue would be worn by no one but a Damn Democrat. A person witha green scarf would have to be a tree hugger. Purple? That would be promoting the gay lifestyle. Just ask Jerry Fallwell about that after the rapture. Yes, the terrorists have won. They won in 2000 and 2004.

Here's the response to my e-mail complaint from the donut holes...

Thank you for sharing your comments.  We always appreciate hearing from our customers.  The intent of the online ad featuring Rachael Ray wearing a paisley silk scarf was to promote iced coffee.  Given the surprising and truly unfortunate interpretation of this ad from some of our consumers, we decided to pull the ad and replace it with another as it is no longer serving its intended purpose, which was to simply promote our iced coffee---nothing more, nothing less.

At Dunkin' Donuts, we value all of our customers and remain steadfastly committed to making your experiences with us both memorable and pleasant.  Thank you, again, for making us aware of your concerns; it is appreciated
