TUMBLING COACH SUSPENDED FOR GAY PORN

For the past three years, Josh Weast has coached about 40 students at Mater Dei Catholic High School in Breese, Ill. Weast isn't a teacher, but he's been allowed to use the gym because hey, he helps the school's cheerleaders get better.

Rather, he used to help at Mater Dei. Weast has been banned from campus because the principal found out about his gay-porn past. WQAD reports:
Weast said he regretted making the videos, but he said he made them about a year ago at a time when he needed the money badly. Still, he said his private life should have no effect on his coaching activities. In comment on the case, the executive director of a well-known Illinois gay rights groups said private religious schools have a legal right to enforce their own values as long as federal anti-discrimination laws are not violated.
Crazy, isn't it, how the principal just stumbled across some gay porn?

Crazy, isn't it, how you're anxious to assign a tawdry motive to the principal's role in this? Where, exactly, are you getting the part about the principal "stumbling across" the teacher's past?

You don't suppose an upset parent, student or faculty member could have brought something to the principal's attention, do you?

He'll tumble for ya,
He'll tumble for ya,
He'll tumble for ya,
He'll tumble for YOU...

In response to first anonymous, I think the "stumbled on" statement is a remark about the irony of the pricipal, faculty or parent viewing gay porn and recognizing their tumbling coach...Any way you slice it is a funny situation. Unless you are that tumbling coach I suppose.

Maybe read the article about what happend first. In the article it says that a student stumbled upon the video on the internet.

What article are you referring to? Ron's story and the wqad.com link offer no info on how the principal became aware of the situation.

The report on TV last night said that a coworker told the cheerleaders about it, and told them where to find it on the internet. They supposedly found it and busted him.

One of the cheerleaders was on the report talking about how hard it's going to be to find someone to replace him, because there's no one else in the area who coaches. Guess they should have though of that before they turned him in.

Apparently he did a good job coaching. So why not just let him alone? Can his private life not be his own? There is no reason to think that having starred in porn could adversly affect his ability to perform as a coach. You never know - it might even help him, epsecially in his ability to relate to some kids.

The principal didn't STUMBLE upon the content. I live in Josh's town and I'm not sure how the topic came up, but somehow, the students heard about the rumor. he told his charges that if they didn't believe it, then to go to the movie's website to see for themselves. Why? I dunno. The students CHOSE to visit the site and tell the principal.

Before you guys write this crap, you need to get your story straight. I go to MD and am a cheerleader there. Our principal didnt STUMBLE across...it was brought to his attention by other people. I don't understand why people are making such a freakin huge deal about this. We are a catholic school and we have to enforce the values that we teach. Everyone just needs to leave us alone and quit thinking that we are bad people. Get a new story and leave our school alone!

Looks like you tumbled into a big pile of it with this one, Mr. Journalist.
