POTTS IS THE PITS

Southwest Missouri got its claim to fame in the Valerie Plame hearing on Friday. It was not a pretty sight.

Midge Potts of Springfield, the former GOP candidate for Congress, appeared at the hearing -- in the background, dressed in a Jackie Kennedy outfit, circa November 1963. Potts was in the back of the room as a protester for Code Pink. You couldn't miss Potts. Neither could anyone else who watched.

When Plame criticized the leaking of her name, Potts' hands did a tsk-tsk of disapproval. When Plame nodded "no," so did Potts. And on and on, until we had to wonder if the Code Pink protesters were actually Republican operatives, planted to make Plame look bad.

Reaction on the left wing was mixed, with some Dems giving Potts the rah-rah, while others criticized the spectacle. Count us in the latter category. Because what Plame had to say was important, and instead of letting the former CIA operative's words do the talking, Potts insisted on selfishly mugging for the camera. Some messenger.

When I saw that I about choaked off my chair.

Actually, I voted for Midge in the primary. Figuered that she could ony spend money on clothes, not bombs ... well, I now admit I was wrong.

Let's start an account at the Bank of Billings (also known as Cecil Lands old bar) to get her the other half of the operation so we can save ourselves the potential of a heart attack while rolling around on the floor.

Or possibly, talk Ann Coulter into giving her some hand-me-downs.

BTW ... I have heard rumors that Larry Flynt is going to sue for trademark infringement over "Think Pink".

Just as soon as he finishes helping Branson.

I was in a hotel room over 100 miles away. I haven't watched cable TeeVee in months let alone CNN. Imagine my surprise after being checked into my room for only a few minutes and the first thing I see is Springfield's own Midge Potts on my television.

While in my mind Potts is a somewhat bizarre character I'll give her some credit for taking a public antiwar stance.

yeah Midge, you're embarassing us.

wait a minute, this is the home of Jim Bakker, CBC, BBC, Sheila Wyatt, Ralph Manley, and potentially Ted Haggard.

How can Midge be any worse than....
you're right, this time she was.

Let me ask you a question.

How often do you hear the so called "liberal media" (CNN, MSNBC, etc) say the words, "IMPEACH BUSH"?

I wonder how many times those words were said over the airwaves on March 16th, 17th and beyond simply because I was wearing that shirt? Not to mention that I gave people something to criticize other than Valerie Plame heself. In fact, I kind of legitimized Mrs. Plame-Wilson... because of my antics, I was the joke rather than her!

Of course you have the right to the opinion that I was misguided then and delusional now.

Still, I have no regrets and make no apologies to you as I happen to know that Valerie Plame and Joseph Wilson told my friend Jodie Evans at dinner one night in April that they appreciated the part I played during that hearing!!!

Peace & Freedom,
Midge
