SATURDAY THIS, THAT, T'OTHER

For you, a pocketful of shells:
•Be sure and visit Life of Jason. Good guy, good blog, different perspective. As the poet-philosopher Rodney King might say, let's all just get along.

•The radio board belonging to Art Morris has a boffo thread going. Topic: When should a radio newsroom help a radio personality?

•First Michael Vick (sorry, Dustin), now Earl Simmons, better known as rapper/actor DMX. KPNX reports that police raided DMX's home in Maricopa County and seized several pit bulls. They also found the remains of three other dogs on the property. One of the dead dogs had been burned.

•Is Fidel Castro dead? That's the rumor for Saturday.
Go and fight the bulls on parade.

Thank you for the link, Ron. I appreciate it. Good luck with the new KSPR!

The dark side of me will not like Arts Missouri Radio Message Board thread, but I do!

Great thread going on over there at Morris' place.

Of course, the person being discussed will use the thread as further evidence to say 'mommy those mean old liberals are pickin' on me'.

Castro isn't dead?

Shit.

As for the thread, I went and read it... and who gives a flying damn about Tom Carlson? The man is a condescending prick and deserves every morsel of derision he gets... and then some.

The thread is not about Carlson. It started as a question about a stations news recources being used to aid a bias talk shock jock. I hope you give a flying damn about the objectivity of any news source you use.

Well Put, anon 136. My bitter half (VDJ) is simply doing what we all expect of him. What we didn't expect is getting help from his stations news shop.

Would it be any different if a liberal radio host did exactly the same thing, or is this just another way to slap VDJ around?

Thanks for the shout-out Ron... Hey, you think Vick Rolled on DMX??? just think about it, a secret, underground "fraternity" if you will of thuggish celebrities who start kennels and fight their dogs amongst one another just for fun... and maybe a little side dough that they of course don't keep, but give to their buddies if they win... Wrap your mind around that.
And I'm still pissed that Vick gets crucified while we as a society turn our heads to adultery, drug use, and abortion. It seems like who and when we decide to make an example of is all politics. Well, I for one am not afraid to cry bullshit! P.S. FREE NUMBER 7!!!!

I just want to know why the person who started the thread is unwilling to say who they are. It makes me wonder the ulterior motive behind the postings.

Are there any liberal talk show hosts broadcasting in the Ozarks? I am not aware of any. In the mornings I'm at home, so I watch C-Span's Washington Journal, where calls are taken from across the political spectrum, and no one is shouted down.

As to the VDJ/Carlson matter, perhaps KTTS could publish the transcript of that interview so we can know what the Mayor actually said. That would be a novel approach. Quoting out of context, (then raving on and on about it)is just a smear technique on the part of radio hosts. But, hey, there is no longer a fairness doctrine, so broadcasters can relax ethical guidelines to suit themselves.

KWTO used to have a "liberal" host that worked with Bonnie Bell, who was the more "conservative" host. After he passed away, they hired Ron Davis to be the more "liberal" voice. With Bonnie not being on the air as much, they sort of lost the balance they were trying to get, and Ron got lost in the craziness of advertising sales. Now, of course, the show is primarily an auctioneer and old white guys trying to sell something between phone calls from other old white guys complaining about, well, everything.

I believe that KSWM in Aurora (940am) is still running the Ed Schultz Show. Bona Fide liberal.

Who was terrorizing women at Journal? Was that here in Springfield?

Thank God there is no fairness doctrine, betty... not that Ed Schultz would like it, either. At least I hope he's sensible enough to not fall for the goverment-as-broadcasting-nanny pitfall...

And Carlson is still an arrogant prick.
