He was quite good as the kid in "Apt Pupil," with Ian McKellen as the guy he suspects of being a Nazi war criminal. It's a creepy film, based on a story by Stephen King. Worth watching.
It always saddens me to see these young actors going into tailspins and dying so young.
I just read "Apt Pupil", coincidentally at the same time as Renfro's death. What a creepy story, witha a creepy kid character. It's in the "Different Seasons" collection of novellas (along with "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" and "The Body", which inspired "Stand By Me") and is so far recommended reading.

geez, I guess I am an old crank, I never heard of the guy.
NOW I know why that name sounds so familiar. He was in Tom and Huck! Why didn't you mention that movie earlier? Isn't it one of his best ones?
I've heard the name but haven't seen his work. If I had known we were still playing this game I would have sent you Malia Nurmi AKA Vampira.
Vampira is dead? How is this possible?
Yep! This time it is for real, although she may come back like in Plan 9.
