FEAR AND LESBIAN LOATHING

The strokers at Fox News are consistent, give them that. They toe the conservative line and decry the baser parts of the world while filling your phiz with lurid images and stories about sex.

This week's big Fox News push: Why is America tolerating a song about lesbians?

We suspect they're hyping about "I Kissed A Girl" by Katy Perry, a slip of a song with an insanely catchy chorus:
I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chap stick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don't mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don't mean I'm in love tonight
Fox insinuates the song will make straight girls rush off and join the lesbian brigade -- further proof that today's world is debauched beyond belief.

Yep. Thank God the black-and-white days were only filled with songs about straight, missionary-position sex (done in the dark, of course, 'cause with the lights out, it's less dangerous). No one sang about disgusting things like masturbation, right? Just ask Leo Sayer:
Miles and miles of empty space in between us
The telephone can't take the place of your smile.
But you know I won't be travelling for ever.
It's cold out
But hold out
And do like I do.
When I need love
I hold out my hands
And I touch love. I never knew there was so much love
Keeping me warm night and day.
So much love. No one could ever accuse Sayer of being modest. And let's not even get into Devo.

Now this is probably the first and last time I'll ever agree with fox - that song sucks! As a lesbo, I find it freakin annoying and it makes me shout, "go back to your boyfriend you tourist!" every time I hear it. Urgh. Just what we need, more drunken straight girls snogging other drunken straight girls cause we all know, the boys, they "don't mind it". Rant over ;-)

I had a feeling that song is offensive to lesbians. Thanks for the confirmation.

As for When I Need You, by Leo Sayer, Red!, that song is so not about masturbation! Why, I'm just sure it was a big hit at the freshman high school dance! And we didn't do things like that! :)

Where was Fox when "I Touch Myself" came out?

Honestly, though, I know the song is catchy, but I'd like to see an artist come up with a catchy beat that doesn't include licking people up and down like a lollypop. I think lyrics do have a big influence on youngsters, which can lead to too many negative results such as 13-year-old pregnancies. Yeah, that might be extreme, and I'm not saying a song will get a little girl pregnant or make a 10-year-old get drunk, but they can serve as just one more influence for a lot of kids who receive such stellar parental support and love in today's world. Unfortunately, the young parents I've dealt with as a teacher are just as immature as their middle school-aged seed.

Wonder what Sayer's lyrics were played backwards? Was there a hidden message? Did he kill Paul? Or did he blow Peter away?

How about Jackson Brown's "Rosie?"

Rosie, you're all right
You wear my ring
When you hold me tight
Baby, that's my thing

Btw, Jill Sobule's 1995 song "I Kissed A Girl" beats whatsherface's song like a drum.

"All I have to Do is Dream"
"Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On"
"Blinded By the Light"
"All By Myself"
"In My Room"
"Dancin' With Myself"
"Tutti Frutti"

Fox is WAY too late to this party.

Maybe decent people don't want your liberal "anything goes" agenda. Maybe to most people the thought of same-sex "sex" is repulsive and offensive. If you want that type of world... enjoy. But don't expect people like myself to embrace your BS.

Dear Anon 7-29,

Decent people come in all shapes and sizes. They like boys, they like girls, and sometimes they are boys that like boys and girls that like girls.

What makes them decent, even desirable as friends, is who they are not "what" they are. If you look at them, most of the time, you can't even tell.

That's probably what makes your type of people crazy -- that lesbians and gays look just like "regular people."

If only there was a symbol, like a rainbow, or a personal flaw, like a lisp. If only...

God loves all the little children. Even His gay children.

I don't know who you are, but I am praying for you. I'll get my friends and their partners to pray for you too.

Yes, Bette, God loves "his gay children" so much that the Bible refers to homosexuality as an "abomination." There's your rainbow, Ms. Boop.

God referes to eating shrimp as an abomination and wearing clothing made up of more than one fiber and abomination. Unless your an Orthodox Jew you proable have commited yourself an abomination.

you better go run and hide back under your rock then, cuz we all know if you just ignore it, it doesn't really exist. ROFL!!!!! In my world there are all kinds of people and last I checked we all live in the same world. (well some I wonder about) I'm not saying you have to like what others do but they are still people and should be treated with respect. If you really believe that they are "sinning" pray for them and leave it at that! That is something that is between them and their God and is none of your business. If you don't like the song....don't listen

I think this is a great song and you guys are pigs. Yeah teenage years are a confusing time and I think this song will be very therapeutic for young girls who may be going through some confusing about their own sexual identity.
