Still working our way through the Definitive 200 albums of modern popular music, we've been sidetracked by new ear candy. Among our aural pleasures:
•Champion from Kanye West, because it's a killer Steely Dan riff lift.
•That's The Way (My Love Is) from Smashing Pumpkins. Yeah yeah: Billy Corgan whines. But it's talented whining.
•The Pretender from Dave Grohl's Foo Fighters.
•LoveStoned from Justin Timberlake.
•Well Thought Out Twinkles from Silversun Pickups.
Not on the list is the new Paul McCartney (Nod Your Head sucks) or the new leaked Britney tracks. Even CHATTER has its standards.

No Feist? No Spoon? No Dream Theater? Well, dagnabbit.
~ Feist's "1 2 3 4" will sneak up on you with its catchiness.
~ Spoon's "The Underdog" speaks for itself.
~ Dream Theater's "Constant Motion" is one of the tightest rock songs of the year.
I had someone rag on me recently when I said I was really into Foo Fighters a lot more than I ever was Nirvana (and I was into Nirvana pre-Nevermind.) I can't wait to hear the new project.
Ditto on Foo Fighters and Kanye--like him or not, the dude's albums are events, which is all too lacking these days. And did you know Randy Bacon had Silversun Pickups here not much more than a year ago (old gallery)? Missing that show is one of my biggest regrets...
