In Ward's mind, "enforcing" the law means crushing all sexually explicit businesses in the United States. He acknowledges the futility of his actions:
"We're not going to prosecute it away, but it's important, I think, that Americans see their government trying to do something about it."
While practicing law and serving on the board of Utah Citizens for Positive Community Values, Ward fought for a state law aimed at strip clubs that would have required dancers, as well as art class models and others, to wear at least a bikini. The Legislature never passed it.

UNITED STATES vs. JOHN STAGLIANO opened 7/7/10 and all charges were dismissed within a few days of the trial start. When Pamela Sever Satterfield for the Plaintiff refused to recuse herself or contradict DOJ employee testimony, sworn testimony that Judge Richard J. Leon had somehow admonished prosecutor Satterfield to urge the Justice employee to familiarize himself with the evidence. No judge would ever involve himself in such a manner, obviously. Judges are like Popes, you know, all powerful and all-knowing, beyond reproach, eternal American patriots elevated nearly to Saint status. Federal judges appointed by their sick political trickery. So Brent Ward, Mary Beth Buchanan and others who fought to persecute these adult producers, subverting the original mandate of the Division, did so singularly to carry out a political agenda.
Sad legacy.
