YOUR FAVORITE HOLIDAY SONG

Louis Armstrong's "Christmas in New Orleans," perhaps? Johnny Cash and Neil Young doing "The Little Drummer Boy"? Or maybe "Christmas In Hollis" by Run-DMC?

All three are on the CHATTER ho-ho compilation, a CD mercifully void of that "Wonderful Christmastime" dreck by the disappointing Beatle -- though it does include a pre-freak Michael Jackson yipping about his mother kissing Santa Claus. For every yin, a yang.

Other blog faves:

•"Yule Shoot Your Eye Out" by Fallout Boy.
•"Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End)" by The Darkness.
•"Peace Anyway" from The Black Crowes.

OK, maybe the Crowes isn't about the holidays, but the sentiments still apply.

What, no "Back Door Santa?" No "Christmas At Ground Zero?" No rendition of "O Holy Night" by Cartman?

I don't know which pairing I like better: Bing Crosby and David Bowie or The Chipmunks and Canned Heat.

Does anyone know the name of the Christmas song by Mickey Thomas?

I have always prefered "What a Friend We have in Cheezes" during the holiday season.

Is that like, "Bringing in the cheese. Bringing in the cheese. We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the cheese...?

That's actually how I used to sing it in kiddie choir because I knew Jack Diddley about such things.

Woody Snow Peas used to play all the favorites:

Please Come Home for Christmas-The Eagles

Clarification: No Ronnie, Jack Diddley did NOT write Bringing in the Cheese. That would be his brother Bo.

Merry Freakin Christmas - the South Park crew.

Also, avoid at all costs "It's a Cow Christmas". Seriously. Bad stuff. Black and white jersey's on the cover. It's a white elephant if you are unlucky.

"I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" by the Three Stooges. Or the original by Gayla Peevey.

Yup, Hippo for Christmas tops my list...the Gayla Peevery version.

The worst Christmas song I've ever heard - and XM Radio's Special XMas channel insists on playing it - is Tiny Tim's "Santa Has The AIDS This Year". I've never heard a more politically INcorrect, vile, humorless song.
