MAN LEAVES HIS MARK

This sick little story from Foley, Ala., is sure to disgust. WPMI reports:
In the middle of a local WalMart, police say a man relieved himself sexually, on a young girl and then runs off. It happened at the WalMart Supercenter off Highway 59 in Foley. Police are now searching for the suspect they believe may have acted out before.

Taken in a crowded WalMart store in Foley, a surveillance video depicts a man in a green shirt, lingering on the right side of the screen. He's not shopping, he's stalking. Police say he's fondling himself as he watches a 13-year-old girl across the isle and out of the camera's view. After a while, investigators say he crosses the isle to violate the unsuspecting teen in an unimaginable way. Sergeant Tony Fuqua with the Foley Police Department describes what happened: “Then he went over to her and relieved himself sexually on the outer clothing of the 13-year-old.”
Across the isle? Obviously a fan of "Lost."

Gee, thanks for brightening everyone's day with this important bit of happy news.

What, really, is your point in passing along this kind of crap?

Is there one?

Or are you just looking for the same reactions of shock and disgust that the average flasher seems to crave when he throws open his coat?

You just have to know RD. This makes perfect sense.
Hey, remember LB in Brookfield?

And just what is it that I "just have to know" about RD in order for this to make perfect sense?

Did some pervert ejaculate on Ron in a Wal-Mart when he was 13 years old? Has Ron been lurking for 13-year-old girls at Wal-Mart?

If so, I suppose that could explain a lot.

I heard this guy was spotted at an area gas station. I think it was a Kum and go.

No, Desdinova, I am not the talk show idiot that you take me for. But I am someone who has worked for almost half of my professional life in counseling children who have been victimized by the sort of predators that are referenced in this thread. Perhaps if you, or Ron, were to stop for a moment and think of the pain and the potential lifelong damage for a presumably innocent child that lay at the heart of this story, it wouldn't be such a matter of lightness for you.

And please, you are flogging a long-dead horse each time you repeat your Shottenkirk Shamma-Lamma Shitsky. It was, admittedly, funny the first two or three times you threw it down. It's not anymore. If it gives you giggles to type it all out (tip: there are macros), then go right ahead. Nobody's laughing anymore but the voices in your head.

Get real, 417pundit.

Of course I'm not saying that this story is not worth reporting. It surely IS worth reporting, certainly in the community where it occurred, so that hopefully the sick bastard who committed this crime can be recognized, caught and dealt with appropriately.

But what relevance is it to anyone here in Springfield? This is the first item posted by Ron in two days. Are you--is he--suggesting that there haven't been ANY more important, more relevant stories, that have broken in the past 48 hours?

No, I am not trying to "censor the messenger." What a rediculous assertion. Ron can write whatever he wants. This is a blog, his blog. It's a forum for the exchange of ideas. To suggest that I'm trying to "censor" him by my comments is ludicrous.

My point was, and is, to ask the legitimate question of what genuine news value there is in posting this particular story here. By that, I'm looking for insights into why he chose this story to highlight, and so far he is yet to answer. Was it, is it, simple prurient interest? Was it to hammer on the "isle/aisle" spelling error in the WPMI copy? Was it just a convenient vehicle onto which Ron could tag his attempt at a hip reference to a popular television drama?

I suppose I should invite you to heed your own advice. If you don't like reading the comments posted to this blog, don't read them. It's that simple.

Anon 1203/922: I blogged about this story because:

•It's sad to see reporters not able to spell "aisle."
•It's disturbing that a police officer chose the odd phrase, "relieved himself sexually." Then again, people used to use the word "ejaculate" to describe someone talking.
•The story is a talker.

Perhaps now is the time to start "open threads" every now and again and let readers carry the narrative. What say you?

Ron,I think open threads occasionally would be interesting-And you mentioned recently that you have been busy of late.

Is Street Talk still being produced and shown? I thought the programs were resuming this month, but I haven't been seeing them. Are they out there and I'm missing them?

If this guy is found guilty, he deserves a special punishment, and it wouldn't be nearly as expensive as prison. Duct tape is cheap, and a bucket of fish guts even cheaper. And the Mark Twain National Forest isn't that far away.

Just a suggestion, not intent. I'm not going to do it. But I wouldn't shed a tear if he met a similar fate.

Ron, Where is the post about last nights forum at the library center?
I read in the paper that VDJ was on the panal. Was this due to his vast experiance in the field of foreign policy or his years in the military?
Or was it his experiance of being a hater?

No love for the haters VJ.

Ron, it's your old friend Kornzakrackin .... your new website address won't let me post any longer under the name I prefer.

I really hoped that the last few weeks on this blog would have convinced you that it has a great future as a clearingboard for buzz on Springfield media and politics.

I don't care if this sick story is a "talker" .... the British tabloids are all about "talker" stories, and they are beneath contempt.

If reading this sort of story is your cup of tea, fine ... but why debase your site by continuing to run this ridiculous stuff?

Without commenting on the story's newsworthiness, I think it's pretty funny to describe ejaculation as "unimaginable." It's pretty imaginable, and the story sure wants you to be imagining. Maybe the author meant unappetizing? Unwelcome? Unholy? Ungodly (well, not for the Greek gods)? Unforgiveable? Unrestrained (I like that one)? Unappealing? Unbelievable (no, unfortunately, it's quite believable).

anon 650-I don't know. I'm not much of a tv watcher but it was on and it was Ron Davis so I started watching. Jericho was one of the guests as was someone from a Nixa publication. Since I missed the first part I wasn't sure if it was an older show or not. What I liked was Ron's interviewer/moderator skills as it pertained to Jericho. The only suggestion I would make- if he's listening-is to watch controlling questions that begin with phrases like "Don't you agree that...", except in the case of people like Jericho maybe it's necessary.
